Installing AMSOIL BMK-21 Bypass Kit in Ford 6.0L & 6.4L PowerStroke Diesel

Ford 6.0L & 6.4L PowerStroke Diesel engines comes equipped with cartridge type full flow filter set up. This set up prevents the use of a dual remote bypass system such as AMSOIL BMK-26 sold for Ford 7.3L PowerStroke engines.

However, an effective by-pass oil filter can still be installed to Ford 6.0L & 6.4L PowerStroke diesel by utilizing AMSOIL Aluminum Billet Oil Fill and Oil Filter Cap in conjunction with AMSOIL general use single remote bypass kit BMK21.

AMSOIL BMK21 General Use Single Remote Bypass Kit BMK21 set up ensures optimal engine protection since majority of engine wear is caused by dirt particles in the 5 micron range, which cannot be filtered by the regular "full-flow" filter that comes equipped from the factory. AMSOIL BMK21 by-pass filtration system has the ability to remove particles less than one micron in size, this filtration efficiency virtually eliminates all wear causing elements from the lubrication system. BMK21 system processes & filters a 6 quart system every 5 minutes, keeping the motor oil analytically clean (like new) all the time.

Installation Procedure:
Once the installation location is determined & an appropriate mounting bracket is fabricated to hold the BMK21, the actual install is quite straight forward.

Mount BMK21 to the fabricated bracket. Replace OEM filter cap with AMSOIL Aluminum Billet Oil Filter Cap BK1101 and install BP89 return-line swivel fitting on cap. Replace OEM oil fill cap with AMSOIL Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap BK1102 & install BP67 Oil Sampling Valve* (optional) on the oil fill cap.

Connect oil line from oil filter cap to the By-Pass 'IN'. Connect By-Pass 'OUT' to the oil fill cap BK1102. Fill the By-Pass filter element EaBP100 with one quart of oil and screw it into the BMK21 body.

Start the vehicle & inspect smooth oil flowing via the return line into the filler cap. Check for leaks. *BP67 Oil Sampling Valve allows easy access to take an oil sample for used oil analysis. Changing oil based on the findings of used oil analysis can save thousands in maintenance.

BMK21 By-Pass Kit Product Description:
The Ea By-Pass Oil Filter (EaBP) provides the best possible filtration protection against wear and oil degradation. Working in conjunction with the engine’s full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filter operates by filtering oil on a “partial-flow” basis. It draws approximately 10 percent of the oil pump’s capacity at any one time and traps the extremely small, wear-causing contaminants that full-flow filters can’t remove. The AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filter typically filters all the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously receives analytically clean oil.

Higher Efficiency
Oil filtration is critical to engine life. Abrasive particles in dirty oil can quickly destroy critical components and ruin precision clearances in an engine if not removed through filtration. Today’s engines, however, are designed with smaller, lower-capacity oil filters which are harder to get to for servicing. This means less efficient filtration and a reluctance to change filters at regular intervals, leading to a build-up of dirt in the oil.

The AMSOIL Single Remote Oil Filtration System is designed to provide superior filtration efficiency, increase oil capacity and improve oil filter accessibility.

AMSOIL EaBP Filters have an efficiency of 98.7 percent at two microns. At normal operating RPMs the EaBP Filter will filter all of the oil in a typical five quart sump in less than 10 minutes.

Superior Filtration Efficiency
A vehicle’s regular oil filter is a full flow filter. This means that all the oil pumped by the engine must pass quickly through the filter before it reaches the engine. This high flow demand limits the size of particles conventional filters can effectively remove. Particle size is measured in units called microns.

A decent full-flow filter will effectively remove particles down to about 25 microns. But studies have shown that over 60 percent of all engine wear is caused by particles in the 5 to 20 micron range. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Oil Filters remove particles less than one micron, keeping the oil free of virtually all wear-causing particles.

Installationa and Workings of Single ByPass System

Superior Construction
The superior construction of AMSOIL EaBP Filters provides better sealing and increased longevity along with superior corrosion resistance. AMSOIL EaBP Filters have a marine powder coated exterior; and their zinc-dichromate base plates increase rust protection. EaBP Filters have a nitrile HNBR gasket and an orange silicone anti-drain valve. The two stage pleated and layered cellulose/full synthetic media has an efficiency rating of 98.7 percent at two microns.

Longer Lasting
When used in conjunction with AMSOIL motor oil and an AMSOIL EaO or Donaldson Endurance™ filter, the EaBP should be changed every other full-flow filter change up to 60,000 miles. When used with other brands of motor oil or full-flow filters, the EaBP Filter should be changed every other full-flow filter change. AMSOIL recommends using oil analysis when extending oil drain intervals.

Increased Oil Capacity
The increased fluid system capacity and filtration life provides improved oil cooling and ensures that equipment constantly runs on clean oil. Engine efficiency is increased, providing extended engine life.

Increased Filter Size
Many auto manufacturers have been using smaller full-flow filters to help squeeze their engines into tighter engine compartments. But reducing a filter’s size severely limits its service life and contaminant-holding capacity.

A single remote by-pass system addresses all the filtration requirements for extended engine and oil life in an economical way.

Soot Removal
AMSOIL has designed a high-efficiency by-pass filter element that is also a soot removal device. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filters use a synthetic/cellulose sandwiched media. The inner layer of the element is composed of a highly efficient cellulose media covered with a full synthetic media outer layer. These filters remove 39 percent of soot contaminants less than one micron. Soot removal efficiency increases approximately 10 to 14 percent when the EaBP Filter is used in conjunction with a standard full-flow filter.
